137 Citations from Extra Patrols for Underage Drinking Enforcement in October

For Immediate Release: Nov 19 2018

Bismarck, ND – During October, law enforcement agencies across North Dakota deployed extra patrols enforcing the law against underage drinking, as well as conducting compliance checks and shoulder taps, as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

A total of 137 citations were attributed to the added enforcement, including 32 minor in possession citations, 28 minor in consumption citations, 18 speeding citations, 10 drug-related citations, and five Driving Under the Influence (DUI) arrests.

Deterring teens from alcohol and/or drugs is a critical message for law enforcement to communicate. This additional enforcement is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
