Vision Zero Communities

What is a Vision Zero Community?

A COMMUNITY that believes the only acceptable number of fatalities and serious injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes in their community…is zero!

A COMMUNITY that establishes a culture of shared responsibility where motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries are recognized as preventable and are not tolerated.

A COMMUNITY that collaboratively commits to create an Action Plan to lay out a roadmap for the strategies, roles, and responsibilities that will move their community from vision to action to achieve the goal of zero motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries.

If your community is interested in becoming a Vision Zero Community, contact the North Dakota Department of Transportation Safety Division at 701-328-2658.

Park River became the first Vision Zero Community in North Dakota on August 1, 2018.
