Crash Responder Safety Week is Nov. 13-17

For Immediate Release: Nov 09 2023
BISMARCK, N.D. – Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) is Nov. 13 – 17, 2023. Vision Zero wishes to thank crash responders for the important work they do by sharing simple steps everyone can take to keep our roadway responders safe during incidents.

Drivers should take personal responsibility every time they travel and be mindful of the recently updated move over law, which includes the requirement to “slow down, move over” for all vehicles on the side of the road with flashers on.

Every minute of every day, law enforcement, fire and rescue, emergency medical services, public works, transportation, towing, and other responders work roadside to make roadways safe for all road users. These crash responders put their lives at risk when clearing each of the thousands of motor vehicle crashes each year in North Dakota, as well as the broader range of incidents such as stalled vehicles or roadway debris.

Crash responders will be recognized at the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims for the work they do during crash response. North Dakota’s observance for World Day of Remembrance will be Friday, November 17 at noon in Memorial Hall at the state capitol.
