KZZY radio in Devils Lake was selected to receive the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s (NDDOT) Traffic Safety Media Award, which was presented to news director, Eric Arndt on February 5. This media outlet received this award for being a valued proponent of law enforcement and their support of public safety.
“KZZY is committed to the safety and well-being of the motoring public,” said Chief Knowski of the Devils Lake Police Department, who submitted the nomination. “They conduct numerous public service announcements during high volume traffic holidays, invite law enforcement to talk shows, and continually spread the news of road closures and emergency traffic safety issues that affect their listener’s area.”
“The NDDOT is grateful for KZZY supporting all areas of traffic safety. With traffic safety advocates such as KZZY, we can move towards achieving the state’s Vision Zero goal which is zero motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads,” says Karin Mongeon, Safety Division Director, NDDOT.
The NDDOT receives nominations each year for the following awards: Traffic Safety Officer of the Year, Beyond the Traffic Stop, Drug Recognition Expert Officer of the Year, Child Passenger Safety Awards, Traffic Safety Honor Roll and a Traffic Safety Media Award.
