ND Sober Ride gains popularity during the Red River Valley Fair

For Immediate Release: Aug 03 2023
Fargo, N.D. – Vision Zero’s ND Sober Ride, a program aimed at removing impaired drivers from North Dakota roads, provided 86 sober rides during the Red River Valley Fair (RRVF) from July 7-16.

In 2022 ND Sober Ride provided 65 rides during the RRVF.

“It’s encouraging to see more North Dakotans recognize the importance of having a sober ride,” said North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) Highway Safety Division Director Karin Mongeon. “As fatalities from alcohol-related crashes decrease, we must remain focused on the goal of zero fatalities on North Dakota roads by always driving sober or finding a sober ride.”

Codes are sponsored by AAA – The Auto Club Group of North Dakota. Companies interested in becoming a part of the solution can sponsor ND Sober Ride by contacting NDDOT Safety Public Information Program Manager, lwahlman@nd.gov.

This campaign is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
