ND Sober Ride increases rides given during the Red River Valley Fair

For Immediate Release: Aug 01 2022
Fargo, N.D. – ND Sober Ride, a program to remove impaired drivers from North Dakota roads, provided 65 sober rides during the Red River Valley Fair (RRVF) from July 8-12.

In 2021 ND Sober Ride provided 47 rides during the RRVF.

“Every ride given through ND Sober Ride is one less impaired driver on the road,” explains Highway Safety Division Director Karin Mongeon. “Riders who used the codes took personal responsibility by planning ahead and downloading the code and in turn, got home safely. Using this solution-based tool moves the state closer to the goal of Vision Zero.”

Codes are sponsored by AAA – The Auto Club Group of North Dakota. Companies interested in becoming a part of the solution can sponsor ND Sober Ride by contacting NDDOT Safety Public Information Program Manager, lbjork@nd.gov.

This campaign is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
