Speeding slows you down: enforcement period begins July 1
STATE WIDE – Law enforcement across the state will have extra patrols enforcing speed limits and removing aggressive drivers from the road as part of the Speeding Slows You Down enforcement campaign from July 1 to August 4.
With the passing of HB1298 during the 69th Legislative Assembly, interstate speed limits will increase to 80 mph, effective August 1. Speeding and/or aggressive driving is defined as speeding, driving too fast for conditions, following too closely, or operating a vehicle in a reckless, negligent, or aggressive manner.
Preliminary data for 2024 shows speeding was a factor in nearly 24% of traffic fatalities in North Dakota. Vision Zero is calling on everyone to show regard for all road users’ lives and safety, including their own, by following speed limits everywhere and all the time.
