Vision Zero teams with Tigirlily

For Immediate Release: Jun 24 2021
Bismarck, ND – The Safety Division of the North Dakota Department of Transportation is proud to welcome Tigirlily back to their home state of North Dakota through a new partnership promoting personal responsibility while driving at their July 5 concert in Medora.

Hazen, ND natives Krista and Kendra Slaubaugh are making their return to the Burning Hills Amphitheater to promote their debut self-titled EP releasing July 9. They are encouraging everyone to take personal responsibility when traveling to and from the concert.

“Our song ‘Somebody Does’ promotes how important your life is to others, which is why you should always buckle up, follow the speed limit and drive sober and distraction-free,” said Kendra. “These are personal responsibilities that we believe in too, so we want to influence and encourage our fans, and all North Dakotans to do the same.”

“Teaming up with Vision Zero to talk about the importance of traffic safety is such an easy fit for us,” adds Krista. “Wearing a seat belt saved my life in a crash in 2016, so if we can spread awareness of the importance of seat belt use, as well as following all other traffic laws we’re going to do it.”

“The sisters of Tigirlily not only bring first-hand experience with traffic safety to this partnership, but the lyrics of their #1 iTunes song ‘Somebody Does’ is very reflective of the message we promote through Vision Zero,” said Safety Division Director Karin Mongeon. “Somebody does care about you, so the decisions you make behind the wheel affect more than yourself. We’re thrilled to partner with this duo to share Vision Zero’s mission to eliminate motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries in North Dakota.”

All North Dakota drivers and vehicle occupants can take personal responsibility when traveling by always wearing a seat belt, using appropriate child passenger safety seats, following all posted speed limits, and driving sober and distraction-free.
Preliminary crash fatalities in 2021 have reached 41 as of June 17, 2021, making this partnership a vital part of Vision Zero.
