Wing added to Vision Zero Schools

For Immediate Release: Jan 12 2023
WING, N.D. - Representatives from Vision Zero, along with school administrators welcomed Wing Public School as the latest Vision Zero School at a school assembly today.

Student leaders picked distracted driving as their safety emphasis and are featured in a traffic safety banner and public service announcements (PSAs). Students unveiled the banner and PSAs at an assembly with their School Resource Officer and school administrators.

“Here at Wing, we care about our students. If something were to happen to one of us, it would affect everyone in not only our school, but our community as well,” said student leader Grace Mehlhoff. “That is why we are passionate about driving distraction-free. We know each of us at Wing Public Schools has a responsibility to make safe decisions every time we ride in a car as a driver or passenger, because if you’re driving distracted, who is actually driving?”

Wing joins Kidder County, Flasher, Oakes, Des-Lacs Burlington and Killdeer as Vision Zero Schools.

Schools interested in participating in Vision Zero Schools should contact the NDDOT Safety Public Information Program Manager at 701-328-2598.
