With Lyft app issues resolved; ND Sober Ride resumes Halloween rides
For Immediate Release: Nov 14 2024
STATEWIDE, N.D. – ND Sober Ride, a program to remove impaired drivers from North Dakota roads, provided 64 sober rides during Halloween weekend, despite issues within the Lyft app preventing the code from being downloaded at the beginning of the campaign.
Download issues were resolved the evening of Friday, Nov. 2, and the campaign proceeded as scheduled.
“While it was unfortunate the codes did not work initially, the team at Lyft worked swiftly to resolve the issue which allowed for North Dakotans to choose ND Sober Ride as the sober way home. We look forward to partnering with Lyft in the future to help bring the number of fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roadways to zero,” said Lauren Wahlman, NDDOT Safety Public Information Program Manager.
Codes are sponsored by AAA – The Auto Club Group of North Dakota. Companies interested in becoming a part of the solution can sponsor ND Sober Ride by contacting NDDOT at dottrafficgrp@nd.gov. ND Sober Ride will be available during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
This campaign is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
